ABOUT JOACHIM NEUGEBAUER
After studying economics with focus on medical management and leadership, I started my career in a management consultancy for healthcare providers. This is also how I came into contact with HELIOS, Europe\'s leading private hospital provider with more than 24 million patients per year. After a trainee program and a career as an executive assistant at various hospital locations, I worked for the management of four hospitals in Duisburg. Later, I joined the management of a non-profit hospital association with 2,500 employees in my hometown of Essen. Here, I discovered not only my enthusiasm for leading interdisciplinary teams, but also my passion for digital transformation in healthcare. During this time, I was able to build up and manage a medical care center with a focus on hematology and oncology. One of my exciting milestones was the acquisition of another hospital in Essen and the successful merger that followed in 2016. In 2018, I left the management of the three hospitals in Essen and started my own business with ‘The Healthcare Advisor’ - to advise hospitals and medical care centers on digitalization, reorganization and process optimization. Since August 2020, I have been responsible for the health care provider business at vitagroup AG as a member of the management team. Every day, together with my team, I work on enabling the intelligent use of healthcare data for improving medical care and research with innovative technologies.
