ABOUT JO GANDERTON-SMITH

I currently work in SEND and Inclusion, supporting pupils with diverse learning needs through personalised interventions, inclusive classroom strategies, and strong collaboration with teachers, specialists, and families. I also support EAL learners, drawing on my CELTA qualification and experience working with multilingual pupils to help them develop confidence and language skills.With 30+ years in education—including senior roles such as Director of External Relations at St Lawrence College and Director of International Recruitment and Development at the University of Kent—I bring a deep understanding of learner development, cultural inclusion, and holistic support.My background spans teaching assistance, careers guidance, learning resource management, marketing, alumni relations and strategic education leadership. I’m passionate about creating supportive, empowering learning environments and helping children and young people access the opportunities that best fit their needs and aspirations.
