WORK HISTORY
Head of Software Engineering @Optimise Dev
At Optimise I\'m responsible for developing our strategic vision for all things software engineering, including making all architectural decisions. I\'m also responsible for building teams of software developers and mentoring them throughout their journey. And have helped manage relations between teams of developers on multi-year government programmes. We specialise in connecting all the systems businesses have which may or may not play nicely out of the box, including the automation of pulling in data from handwritten forms, including ones stored way in a filing cabinet, to make them searchable and reportable. We love to automate those jobs that computers do well so people have more time to do the jobs they do much better than computers. These are key in digital transformation and optimising business processes.
SKILLS
ABOUT JOSHUA GRAHAM
I’m a technical leader with a focus on problem solving, technical knowledge and remote team growth. Over the past 25+ years I’ve delivered over 200 technical projects for large and small businesses alike and have helped over a dozen startups ship their products. I’ve also been fully remote and managing remote teams since 2010.I’ve talked on and hosted podcasts about building software and shared my perspective on growing as a developer through public speaking, working with university courses and mentoring developer cohorts. I love growing people, but I’m also still an engineer at heart. If you want to talk about building software, recruiting software engineers, mentoring other developers, rapid prototyping, building startup products or just want to chat about dial-up internet and reminisce about multi-linking a pair of 56k modems to get a rockin\' 10-12kb/s download speed, drop me a DM.p.s. I\'d like to think I\'m not a terrible photographer and really enjoy getting out with my camera. Ok. I admit it. I have multiple cameras and a lot more gear than I really need, but gear is fun. instagram.com/joshuagrahamuk/p.p.s. I\'m American, not Canadian. Not that I have anything against Canadians. It just comes up often. Apparently, Brits can\'t tell the difference.I\'ve been living in the UK for over 20 years and I\'m also a naturalised citizen. We have more passports in our house than most secret agents! I now live in Scotland and a fair bit of my time feeding chickens and wandering around the hills with the above-mentioned gear.
