WORK HISTORY
Director, Cascadia Nature-based Solutions (Cnbs) @Cascadia Seaweed
I build and lead a portfolio of marine tech and nature-based solutions that make underwater ecosystems visible, measurable, and manageable—for people who depend on them, and for those whose activities most affect them. I’m lucky to work with a dream team of seasoned scientists, engineers, and pathfinders from deeply diverse backgrounds, brought together through seaweed and applying that expertise to support a just and resilient blue economy.

ABOUT JENNIFER ONEILL
I’m the Director of Cascadia Nature-based Solutions (CNbS) at Cascadia Seaweed Corp, where I build and lead a portfolio of marine tech and nature-based solutions that make underwater ecosystems visible, measurable, and manageable for people who depend on them—and for those whose activities most affect them.CNbS was born in 2022 out of two drivers. Demand for Cascadia Seaweed\'s world-class expertise; and a curiosity about the ecosystem services offered by our farms, but for which little data existed. It has since grown into a suite of services that serve the Blue Economy to help people and the planet- Ocean Nexus and Look Seas: AI-powered biodiversity monitoring with subsea cameras - Kelp restoration: Mobile nurseries and restoration services - Seaweed value chains: Building profitable, equitable sectors in Canada and the Global South - Engineering Innovation: Custom design of farms, accessible tech, and beyond! My background in science and management spans federal aquaculture impact R&D, remote sensing of intertidal habitats, and small-scale sector development, with a parallel stint in emergency communications. Across very different geographies, the through-line has been the same: turning complex environmental data and community insight into something decision-makers can act on.I focus on bringing the right skills, partners, and technologies together, and I like working where many hands, shared evidence, and clear reporting meet—making nature-based solutions material instead of aspirational.
