ABOUT MARK WOOD

Seasoned Product Leader & Market Strategist with Strong Cybersecurity ExperienceMark runs the Strategy and Corporate Development office for Secureworks. Using a deep knowledge of the cybersecurity landscape, its companies, and how this landscape changes, Mark and his team work with Secureworks leadership to decide where to play, how to differentiate, and how to win. He has led Secureworks’ transformation from its pole position in the Managed Security Services industry to a leading provider of eXtended Detection and Response (XDR) SaaS software and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services. From a Corporate Development perspective, Mark owns Secureworks M&A strategy, identifying complementary or adjacent markets and working with the leadership team to structure investment priorities. Mark works with bankers and sources acquisition targets directly, leading technical evaluations and pricing discovery. Mark closed Secureworks’ first acquisition in more than a decade (and first technology acquisition ever). Mark identified Delve Labs as a strategically aligned acquisition target, built the business case, negotiated the terms, led the diligence efforts, worked to close the deal, and remains engaged with the integration efforts.Over his career, Mark has led product management, marketing, engineering, and technical sales. His efforts have yielded products and services that generated billions of dollars in revenue and provided career growth opportunities for hundreds of A players who are leaders in the information technology industry today. He founded and sold a company that produced high-speed networking hardware and software and has participated in multiple international standards boards. Mark has also been part of two IPOs and multiple acquisitions (both buy-side and sell-side) and wears the scars of each proudly.Throughout his various roles, Mark has always emphasized the need for deep understanding of buyer problems coupled with strong knowledge of the competitive landscape. Companies do not solve real-world problems without understanding the real world in which solutions are sold, deployed, and renewed. Mark has a master’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Duke University, graduating in the top 10 of his class and with honors in Economics.
