About Jeanine Simmons
Skilled philanthropy and organizational development professional adept in strategic planning with extensive experience in project management, constituent engagement strategy, fundraising, and stakeholder relations.Jeanine joined the UNC Health Foundation in September 2016, where she currently serves as Assistant Vice President for Philanthropy, serving the UNC School of Medicine.Prior to this position, Jeanine was Director of Development at Caring House, Inc, where her responsibilities included all aspects of major gift and annual giving including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of entry- and mid-level donors. Jeanine has also served as the Assistant Director of Development for the Institute for the Arts and Humanities (IAH) at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Her responsibilities at the IAH included all aspects of the annual fund.Prior to her work in development, Jeanine served as coordinator for faculty programs at the IAH. Responsibilities in this role included program development, strategic planning, designing the robust administrative infrastructure and creation of standard operating procedures. Beginning in 2011, Jeanine worked with IAH faculty and administrative leaders to research, plan and create a five-year strategic plan for the Institute. Ultimately, she drafted the original plan and took a lead in its implementation.Prior to joining the IAH, Jeanine was an English/Language Arts Instructor and curriculum leader outside of Lexington, KY. Jeanine earned her B.A. in Education and her graduate degree in Organizational Leadership, additionally completing a certification in Servant Leadership. In 2016, Jeanine completed the Duke Non-Profit Management certificate program. In 2009, Jeanine participated in the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC.
