Serves as member of the Mayor’s Cabinet and public health advisor. • Responsible for strategically positioning, organizing, directing, supervising, and accepting accountability for the Police, Fire/EMS, Building, and Juvenile Diversion Program Divisions. • Serves as the executive official in charge of the Department of Public Safety and implements all legislation adopted by City Council. • Confers with the Mayor in developing the strategic direction of the department. • Defines, plans, and implements programming for the department and divisions and develops appropriate policies and procedures to guide subordinate managers in carrying out the work. • Holds accountability for the effectiveness of the public services offered by the department and its divisions. • Responsible for maintaining fiscal integrity in the department and its divisions and further responsible for ensuring that the highest public service values are reflected in the conduct of its personnel. Manages annual budget of over $20 million. • Seeks additional resources to further assist and move forward the needs of the City\'s first responders. • Oversees enforcement of all police, fire, safety, health, and building regulations and codes that may be prescribed by ordinances or rules of the City, or when applicable, the general laws of Ohio. • Serves as liaison for the department; meets with community groups and other interested parties for purpose of promoting City programs and division objectives and policies; seeks to resolve problems and exchange information with residents, officials, vendors; etc.
