   I work as a Platform Engineer on the Core Services team. The Core Services team is the engine room of Honeycomb\'s observability platform. Our team owns the backend systems that allow us to stream and ingest millions of our customers\' telemetry events per second, allows customers to query their data at scale, and ensures that observability is fast, reliable, and always available for our customers.Responsibilities include- Designing, managing, and optimizing Kafka for real-time data streaming needs- Mentoring and knowledge sharing with the team and adjacent teams on Kafka concepts and Kafka operation- Working with and maintaining services (written in Go) that ingest and process large volumes of data into Honeycomb from various sources- Shared infrastructure operation and management of Redis, MySQL, and Memcached- Regularly interacting with AWS cloud infrastructure resources and services as well as Kubernetes EKS clusters as part of our team\'s service ownership
