About Jeff Granof

After learning Basic all the way back in 2003, I was hooked on coding. Creating my first game, a unique version of Pong, started me on my journey to learning more powerful and relevant languages and technologies. Combining my love and passion for coding, with the attention to detail that I developed running job sites in Residential Construction, I transitioned into the world of tech. As a software engineer, I have now developed 3 full stack web applications using a wide array of technologies and languages. One of my latest projects, Galactic Brite, was a Star Wars-themed EventBrite clone. In collaboration with my team, I designed the PostgreSQL database using SQLAlchemy and the server using Flask, making the backend an API for its React counterpart. I also created an algorithm to randomly generate Star Wars-themed events to populate the site. Before the algorithm, the application was using an API and the extra time to generate the events was 100 fold. My passion for this project encouraged me to find a way to cut down the loading time to mere seconds. I believe this passion creates the enthusiasm and drive allowing me to excel in all projects I participate in. As an expeditor in residential construction, part of my job was to spot every detail and defect down to hinges or scratches in the woodwork. It was my task at the end of the project to make sure that all of these were found, fixed and completed, preparing the house for the market. This attention to detail translates well into coding where the slightest little detail can throw off an entire application. I have successfully navigated the waters of a hour, 6 month immersive Software Development Bootcamp. Immediately upon graduation, I was offered a position on the instructional team at App Academy, teaching Python. Working with students first hand, pair programming on a daily basis, and designing curriculum has further amplified my passion for coding.
