ABOUT JASON LEGLER

I am a software developer with an emphasis on distributed computing. I am 100% buzzword-compliant. I use whatever platform/technology/language/framework that best suits the tasks at hand. I vacillate between Claude and Cursor depending on which is doing something more awesome that week. I care more about business outcomes than tech stacks. I prefer AWS leaf services over just about anything. I often reach for Lambda, Fargate, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, and API Gateway, orchestrated by CDK. I try to build as flexibly as possible when it comes to LLMs because each has its strengths, and they are constantly changing. When forced or I need something multi-cloud, I\'ve used Terraform. I also still enjoy Postgres.I\'ll never call myself a full-stack developer, but I\'ve used React enough to know why I don\'t do it professionally. My CSS could use some love, but until then, there is Tailwind and llms. I will argue with you about whether your data set is large enough to justify the complexity of RAG. I\'ll also probably try to convert MCPs to CLIs. I\'ve recently been spending time in the healthcare world. I\'ve written and contributed to many open-source projects, ranging from fuzzy string matching and address parsing to NixOS configs that make Bitwig Studio work. Now I mostly wish I could offload them to someone else. I tolerate Agile methodologies, although I don\'t subscribe to much of the dogma. I believe we should rise to our individual talents and fail to our systems. Overbuilding to either is probably a mistake. For fun, I turn thoughts into things via a few software projects with friends, music, and woodworking. I also suck at golf, and rule at hanging out at the neighborhood pool with my daughter. Generally, I chase down anything that I find interesting.Skills:Typescript/Javascript, C#, Rust, Go, Elixir, and a half-dozen other languages, lots of AWS services, a little Cloudflare, a little GCP, a little Azure, a lot of DevOps, Postgres, Docker, Claude, Cursor, etc.
