ABOUT JÉ JUDSON

I am a social & behavioral scientist and violence prevention specialist. My research interrogates cultural support for policing and police violence, examining the social acceptability of punishment and the normative discourse and practice of anti-Blackness and misogynoir. I am interested in the accumulative effects of violence exposures over the life course and the health impacts of vicarious trauma. I apply critical qualitative and historical methods of inquiry with a story-telling approach that centers the voices and experiences of community members: Amplify the stories of Black Americans. Our histories and experiences have been submerged and I believe that centering them in discussions of solutions to social problems is critical: Transformative justice, abolition, mental health and trauma-informed interventions, permaculture & landscape design, nature photography, the science of baking, visual/performing arts.
