BEL Facility - The manufacturing unit is based at Mouza Douka, P.O. Tentulmuri, P.S. Narayangarh Dist. West Medinipur, near Kharagpur, having 400 acres of land, 130 Km from Kolkata and 23 Km from Kharagpur town. The facility has a unique location advantage of Howrah-Chennai railway track and NH 60 as its peripheral boundaries, thereby easing the logistical concerns on import of coking coal through nearby ports and supply of coke to its customers. The Haldia Port is approx. 130 Km, Dhamra port of Orissa is approx 220 Km and paradip port is approx 300 K.M from the plant site. All these ports are having a railway siding through which we are getting our raw materials. All the major customers are within 200 K.m. radius of our plant. Customers like Tata Metaliks, Rashmi Metaliks etc. are within 40 K.m radius and few customers like SAIL, Tata Steel, Jai Balaji, Neo Metaliks, KIC Metaliks are within 200 K.M of radius. So BEL is enjoying a very high location advantage. Power generated is being sold to West Bengal State Electricity Board (WBSEB). BEL is also engaged in trading on minerals/commodities like, Coking Coal, Non-Coking Coal, Iron Ore, Manganese Ore, Dolomite, Pallet, Pig Iron etc. BEL Product - Coke – is the main fuel in blast furnace for iron reduction. In order to achieve higher productivity in blast furnaces, coke of low ash is primarily used as reducing agent and is termed as Low Ash Metallurgical or LAM coke. High quality coke is characterised by a definite set of physical and chemical properties that do not vary beyond very narrow limits. The major product is the blast furnace coke which is used in pig iron and steel manufacturing units. Size ranges from +25 to – 80 mm. Depending on the customer requirement, the product size can be customized and can produce Coke fines (+ 80 mm). The customised products are used in Sinter plants; Ferro alloys plants and Foundries respectively.
