About Jinwei Qiu

I started my engineering career with a 2D hydraulic modeling assignment using an IBM PC 486. From that time forward, I have my full passion in Water Resources and Civil Engineering over 24 years. I have worked on numerous projects and focused on problem solving, strategy integration and innovation initiative. My career has been continuously overcoming obstacles and embracing challenges, primarily focused on hydrologic and hydraulic studies, floodplain analysis, dam and reservoir study, levee design and study, transportation drainage design and study, stormwater system design and analysis, scour and sediment transport analysis, and FEMA compliance, etc. I became a meticulous and hardworking project manager with more than 10 years of experiences in the federal projects for US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and U.S. Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC). I led the design and/or study of civil works projects, such as 21 USACE dams in Texas, a total of 10+ miles levees along Trinity River, TX, Rio Grande, TX, and Tijuana River, CA. I understood the challenges and developed my experience in managing multi-disciplines teams and large-scale projects. Along the way, I am also serving project manager roles for state and local agencies. My projects cover design and analysis of the watershed protection, flood prevention and mitigation alternatives, stormwater drainage infrastructure for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Trinity River Authority (TRA), Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CMTA), etc. and the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Austin, McKinney, Mesquite, Irving, TX, Temecula, CA, and Lawton, OK, etc. As a water resources professional, I find the ability to combine the technical with leadership incredibly fulfilling – I am proud to be part of group who are building and delivering a better world.
