SuitX developed both passive and active exoskeletons. Among the active exoskeletons, the Phoenix medical exoskeleton is designed to help people with mobility disorders to be upright and mobile. BoostX knee is a lightweight exoskeleton to support weak knees and provide assistance during walking and standup/sit-down motion.Programmed ARM Cortex-M microcontroller to run RTOS for exoskeleton using C/C++, which includes memory management, and parallel communication with other chips using CAN, UART, SPI.Wrote IMU sensor drivers with Kalman filters to optimally estimate the pilot\'s state and command the corresponding torque such that the pilot feels comfortable and effectively supported. Coded and tuned PID controllers and adapt a field-oriented control (FOC) strategy to control electromechanical motors using PWM such that motors respond with minimum delay and achieve desired force control for the exoskeleton.Designed LQR controller with a balanced cost function to perform benchmarking for controller tuning, and used the Lyapunov stability theorem to find the equilibrium point for LQRAnalyzed the walking behavior using the concept of Poincare maps for stability and tuned the legged exoskeleton’s assistive auto-walking using ZMP Designed a new auto-trigger algorithm to make a wearable knee device capable of walking on different slopes or stairs without the need for the pilot to use UI to control.Worked with other engineers to set up various test jigs to test life cycles and the hardware limits for prototypes to ensure the safety and endurance of the product. Set up BLE (nRF chip) wireless communications to adjust parameters for the exoskeleton pilot to have various torque profiles easily and display user-friendly results.Trained new employees about mechatronics and programming in C++ to get them up to speed to perform their job duties promptly.Note: part-time (20 hrs/week) from Feb to May 2021 due to my full-time student status
