ABOUT JING DUO GAO
I am a student enrolled in a double major for Honours in Business Administration at the Ivey School of Business and Synthetic Biology at the University of Western Ontario.I love doing business analysis as I get excited at the idea of understanding an industry or a company that I am unfamiliar with. Sometimes, it is simply due to curiosity and at other times, it is to find a solution to a problem. In both cases, I am not afraid to perform an in-depth market research with the goal of finding the best answer to inquiries that I or others may have.I am extremely passionate and interested in becoming a consultant as I enjoy problem-solving, market research, and analyzing collected quantitative and qualitative information. My previous internship at the Consulting Co. further reinforced my desire to become a consultant as working with Rebel Energy to future proof the company was an amazing experience.I am extremely familiar with Office Suites applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams) as I have been using them for many years. I have adapted my workflow in order to use a multitude of technology and software programs throughout my previous work and volunteer experiences with SHAD Canada, Western’s French Department, and many more. I am more than happy to learn how to use a new software and technology. As an IT Director at Western University’s DECA Club, this position allows me to improve my skills as a consultant by going through Management Consulting cases and by assisting in the improvement of the online interaction between club members during the pandemic.Additionally, I am very interested in the field of Synthetic Biology due to its novelty but also its potential. The ability to generate new biological tools from existing ones fascinates me. My previous experience working as an intern at the National Research Council and at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario further strengthened my interest in this field.Outside of studies, I love canoeing, kayaking, skiing, biking, and zip-lining. During my free time, I enjoy learning how to code with Codecademy, volunteer as a communication manager within a server dedicated to the indie-game AoTTG2, and improve my skills for video editing using Davinci Resolve through YouTube Tutorial videos and practicing those skills with personal projects.
