Jim Steenbergen, CFRE, has devoted his career to advocating for those suffering, finding hope for those facing illness and chronic conditions, and amplifying the voices of those too often overlooked. Whether raising funds to care for a child battling a rare disease, providing dignity to older adults, or supporting those with limited means, Jim sees his work as a calling—a way to bring healing, compassion, and equity into the world.That passion took root in healthcare, where for over a decade, Jim held leadership roles focused on generating philanthropic support for patients, families, and caregivers. From 2008 to 2013, he led fundraising efforts for a division of Bronson Healthcare, the largest healthcare provider in southwest Michigan. He later managed corporate development and the Children’s Miracle Network program at Corewell Health, Michigan’s most extensive hospital system. There, he built and led a high-performing team that consistently increased philanthropic revenue year after year. Jim then served as Executive Director for Sunset Senior Communities, one of Michigan’s largest senior care providers, where he worked to ensure quality care and community for aging adults.Jim holds the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Growing up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jim later attended Calvin University and Grand Valley State University and today lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
