About Jim West

An experienced educator, leader, and manager dedicated to creating cultures of learning, excellence, and inclusion, I am passionate about developing global outlooks; nurturing collaborative partnerships; and fostering collegial environments that empower leadership and encourage new ideas to redefine what is possible.My 10+ years of professional experience has focused on three separate, yet overlapping areas: global engagement; leadership development; and diversity, equity and inclusion. My approach blends practice with scholarly knowledge. My research interests examine university president communications, international partnerships, and education abroad.My international higher education experience has included designing and delivering cross-sector programs for senior and rising leaders through a grant from the U.S. Department of State and other university, corporate, and non-profit partners. These programs aimed to break down societal and institutional barriers to find new ways to work collaboratively and to see the humanity in one another.
