ABOUT JIM MORAN

Jim Moran is the Assistant Village Administrator for the Village of Antioch, Illinois. His career started with roles as a radio broadcast news and traffic anchor/reporter, radio talk show host, and program director for suburban and Chicago radio stations, including WLS-AM, WIND-AM, WBBM-AM, WGN-AM, and WKRS-AM. Eventually, leaving full-time on-air work, Jim transitioned into sales, marketing, and business ownership roles, while keeping an occasional on-air presence with several radio stations. In addition, Jim has served in leadership roles as a member of the board of directors of numerous non-profit organizations, including MainStreet Libertyville and the National Museum of the American Sailor Foundation. In 2011, he was appointed by Illinois State Treasurer, Dan Rutherford. to sit on the State of Illinois Advisory Council on Local Government. Jim served as a Village Trustee for the Village of Libertyville and continues to serve as a Trustee for the Libertyville Fire Protection District. He is also the author of the Arcadia Publishing book, “Images of America, Libertyville\". Through his role with the Village of Antioch, Jim is a board member of Lake County, Illinois\' convention and visitors bureau, Visit Lake County, and serves as an alternate on the board of directors of the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County.As a lifelong self-proclaimed “local government geek,” Jim found his calling in municipal government, using his background in communications, operations, and administration to strengthen the connection between local government and the community. In his role as Assistant Village Administrator, Jim is involved in a variety of local government functions, including policy development, intergovernmental relations, and operational management, while continuing his focus on transparency and community engagement. He remains passionate about effective communication as a key tool in building trust and collaboration between residents, businesses, and local government.Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Workplace Leadership, with a minor in Business Administration from Northern Michigan University. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Public Management and a Master of Public Administration degree from Northern Illinois University, where was also inducted into the Phi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society.
