ABOUT JIMMY HODGES

Jimmy Hodges, after completing the machining program at Wallace State, started his career as a Machinist in 1981 in Cullman, Alabama at what was then known as Speedring Ultra-Precision machine shop. He spent the next 19 years in a variety of advanced manufacturing positions primarily in the Aero-Space Industry in the North Alabama area. Hodges earned a Diploma in Machine Shop Technology from Wallace State and an Associate of Applied Science in Machine Tool Technology from Calhoun. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Education and a Bachelor of Science in Management of Technology from Athens State University. He also earned a Master of Arts and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. In Jimmy began his career as an educator teaching Drafting and Design at the Earnest Pruett Center for Technology and working as an adjunct Drafting instructor at Northeast Alabama Community College. Hodges was hired at Wallace State Community College in June of 2009 as the Drafting and Design department chair and was promoted to Dean of Applied Technologies in November of 2011. While at Wallace, he worked diligently to improve and expand the technical programs at Wallace State, working very closely with business and industry to ensure current and relevant program offerings. In March 2020, Jimmy started working with the Alabama Community College System as the North Alabama Regional Workforce Director. In this position, Jimmy worked closely with the eight community colleges in north Alabama to grow relationships with business and industry, to ensure that business and industry received the necessary training for employees, and to promote work-based learning opportunities for students. Dr. Hodges was appointed as the Interim President of Calhoun Community College on June 1, 2021. Dr. Hodges is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the faculty, staff, and student at Alabama\'s largest community college. Jimmy and his wife of 37 years, Lynn, have three grown children, Matthew, Laura, and Ginny. All three are educated, employed, and married and have given Jimmy and Lynn seven wonderful grandchildren, 4 girls and 3 boys, which are the center of Jimmy and Lynn’s world. Jimmy is proud to be a part of Calhoun Community College and the Alabama Community College System and he is very excited about the future of education.
