ABOUT JIM KOLMUS

I am the Vice President of Innovation at BW Packaging, leading global innovation strategy and execution across the organization. In this role, I drive transformative solutions through international teams, ensuring customer needs are met with speed and impact while shaping the future of packaging technology worldwide.Previously, I served as Director of Global Innovation at BW Flexible Systems, where I led innovation teams across multiple countries and helped launch the ISB vertical bagger, the most hygienic food packaging bagger on the market. My earlier leadership roles included Mechanical Engineering Manager and Product Manager for Vertical Systems, where I guided product development, customer support, and long-term strategy.I built a strong foundation at GE Energy and GE Rail managing multimillion-dollar NPI programs, driving Lean Six Sigma process improvements, and delivering cost savings exceeding $1M. I am a Professional Engineer, a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and hold degrees in Mechanical Engineering (BS, Penn State; MS, Gannon) and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.Outside of work, I enjoy playing the trumpet and digital photography, with published work in GrayWay and Urban Wind Energy.
