ABOUT JIM KARKANIAS

Seasoned executive management of many types of companies ranging from start-up to multibillion dollar global corporations. Scope of responsibility spans development, research, resource management and infrastructure. Staff sizes ranged from employees with budget responsibilities approaching $500MM against a revenue of $8B.Extensive skills in pharma/lifesci, corp strat, global ops, sw dev, bizdev, IP gen, as well as sales and marketing.Led pioneering efforts in software development. One notable innovation is a distributed system which allows for the remote collection of data from physicians at a time that pre-dated both distributed system environments and the widespread use of the internet as a business tool. Another, more recent (2004), example includes a framework developed to be both flexible and transparent to the dynamically changing needs of the business. This set the stage for the Information Ecosystem platform envisioned by my team and I; discussed at length elsewhere. Joined Microsoft in 2006 to apply these skills in a new venture – the Health Solutions Group – which aimed to revolutionize healthcare through paradigm shifting approaches that integrate next generation business, process, and technology. Five years and 66 patents later, my team and I created an information platform for health and lifesciences spanning the physician, the consumer, and most recently (April 2009) the scientist. This product is notable in that it advances both storage and reasoning technologies to a new high and holds a record for the largest and quickest customer wins, totaling many tens of millions, just a few months after shipping.Started the ML and Data Science teams at Biohub, and most recently led the technology platforms as CTO.Now CEO of StatOS, a company aimed at applying next generation AI + ML to help create the wave of next generation healthcare we need.
