About Jim Wise

Recently retired, award-winning journalist and published author with more than 30 years’ experience writing articles, editing publications and managing multiple priorities on tight deadlines. Strong interest in land-use and development issues, regional planning, local and regional history. Also, since have taught classes in local and Southern history and culture at Duke University\'s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI, nee DILR). Currently (fall 2015) taking a second plunge into undergraduate teaching with \"Southern Culture\" at Durham Technical Community College.
