   The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), a non-profit Division of NSPE, based in Alexandria Virginia, was founded in 1961. Since then, more than technicians and technologists have met NICET\'s rigorous certification criteria, and the number grows rapidly as more employers and local and state governments rely on NICET certification to measure the qualifications of their workforce. The certificate and wallet card issued by NICET serve as a portable credential for certified technicians and technologists who seek to maximize their skills and knowledge and advance in their professions. By employing workers who have demonstrated their technical mastery, employers can provide customers higher quality goods and services. Ultimately, the public enjoys a higher degree of safety and protection. As Director, Business Development – promotes NICET-certified engineering technicians as vital members of the engineering team; familiarizes agencies and consulting firms with NICET certification to extend the utilization of NICET Water and Transportation programs; and connect employers NICET programs and certificate holders as a resource. Lead marketing campaign to extend outreach of NICET in the Midwest and throughout the United States. Identify subject matter experts to help with program development and updates to shape future test questions and assure broad perspective. Link professional organizations with NICET that could partner in the credentialing process. In addition to promoting the existing NICET certification programs, efforts are undertaken to understand the broader credentialing needs of agencies, consultants and organizations, and to explore the feasibility of new NICET certification programs for other engineering technology specialties.
