EXPERIENCED NEWSROOM LEADERI\'ve helped guide the Seattle Times through an unprecedented period of change, maintaining the focus on ambitious public-service journalism as budgets shrank, developing partnerships with foundations and others to support innovative reporting and community engagement projects, transforming the newsroom to incorporate digital thinking from story inception, and pushing reporters and editors to embrace new storytelling skills.AWARD-WINNING EDITOR AND REPORTERI helped lead teams that won Pulitzer Prizes for breaking news in 2010 and 2015. The first was for real-time digital coverage of the manhunt for the murderer of police officers; the second for coverage of a deadly landslide in northwest Washington that incorporated fast-twitch watchdog reporting. As a reporter, I won national awards for investigative reporting on both mental health and environment issues.I\'m currently an executive board member of the Associated Press Media Editors (APME) and slated to become president in Oct. EXPERIENCED TEACHER AND TRAINERAs an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington, I created courses on global health reporting, covering immigrant communities and political reporting. In Southeast Asia, I’ve developed professional training programs, taught at a local university, consulted in newsrooms and worked on a program to rebuild the local media in Indonesia after a devastating tsunami.
