ABOUT JIM SCHWARTZ
I have had the good fortune to work for some great leaders over my career. One of my major lessons is that, like individuals, the success of organizations is the result of many efforts not all of which come from within the organization. This is especially the case in public safety organizations in a post 9/11 world. Public safety leaders today should recognize that the boundaries that separate professions or jurisdictions are useless during a crisis and that developing trusted relationships and mutual understanding beforehand will better serve the organization and those it was created to serve. I try to practice this through my participation as- Member, International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Committee on Terrorism and Homeland Security - Board member Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care - Faculty at the Leadership in Crisis Program, Kennedy School at Harvard University I am also a life-member of Leadership Arlington an organization that develops and connects leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors of Arlington.
