ABOUT JIM SALLY

I am a Sales/Marketing Management professional with more than 35 years of industry experience, ranging from Technical Sales Representative to VP of Sales & Marketing- Canada and most recently, North American Director of Market Management. With an education and background in chemistry, I have mainly focused my career on Specialties markets such as CASE, Food, Pharmaceutical and Personal Care. I have vast experience in upper-tier management, serving as a VP of Specialties for Canada, where I was responsible for the P&L for the Specialties group, Sales Growth and Market development. As a long-time people leader with developed coaching skills and a great desire to mentor others, I have spent my career building strong and successful teams by empowering my staff and leading by example. In my spare time I enjoy playing ice hockey and although I am not one of the best players on the team I always try my best, work with my team mates to make great plays, striving to win but absolutely playing to have fun. I have applied many of the \'Team\' skills learned in hockey to my roles within my career.One of my greatest achievements happened when I was promoted to be the Director of Sales & Marketing of the CASE business at Brenntag Canada. Previously, the group had failed to achieve any growth for the previous 3 years in a row. In my first year, I was able to work with every team member (36 in total) to improve everyone\'s performance to be their best resulting in a 12.5% growth in GP over previous year in my first year as leader. I went on to become the first VP of Specialties (CASE, Food, Pharma and Personal Care) for Canada and continued with great success for many years.Even when I became a VP, I always made sure my staff knew my door was always open for them to talk to me. It was a very proud moment for me to have heard from an employee who worked for a different division compliment me for approaching them when they were distressed and helping them come up with a solution for their problem. They told me about the situation many years after and they told me I made such a positive impact on them that it forever changed their impression of VP\'s. They said it inspired them to work hard towards personal growth and if they become a VP they too will emulate my style. Knowing that I touched even one individual makes it worth while.I am highly effective at communicating goals & objectives for the team and to delegate tasks and responsibilities to each team member ensuring we are high achievers. I hold everyone accountable for their respective responsibilities.
