In 2023, Jim joined Zaviant as General Counsel and also consults with Zaviant\' s clients on data privacy and security, related insurance matters, and compliance.After developing his trial skills in Denver at two litigation firms, Jim served in Royal Sun Alliance\'s (RSA) Corporate Major Case Unit. In this capacity, Jim handled complex litigation, losses over $1M, class actions and appeals to the state and U.S. Supreme courts. Jim went on to manage the RSA Global Claim Department, handling all casualty and property claims involving global insurance programs written in the U.S. and Reverse Flow policies written in foreign countries. Jim then joined the law department of Tomkins plc, a global engineering and manufacturing company where Jim became Assistant General Counsel, which required him to stop complaining about poorly drafted contracts and learn how to artfully draft them. When Tomkins was purchased and its collection of companies were sold off by a private equity firm, Jim opened the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois, where he served as the office’s Managing Partner and reengaged in commercial and insurance litigation. In 2015, Jim’s client, Discount Tire, hired him to build a Commercial Legal, Insurance and Compliance department.
