About Jim Murray

Jim Murray is a retired IBM Distinguished Engineer with over 39 years experience in Information Technology. He was the Chief Architect for IBM\'s IT Infrastructure. Jim has spearheaded numerous high visibility complex IT projects including acquisitions and divestitures, development and delivery of a global Wide Area Network solution for IBM, Program Product and application development, Database engineering, and IT Financial Management. He was an IBM Certified IT Specialist in Networking, and has thirteen patents issued. Jim received his BS degree in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, and his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Jim has been an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society for 30 years in a variety of roles, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Eastern North Carolina area. He has served as a board member for the North Carolina Division, Southeast Division, South Atlantic Division, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), and the National Board of Directors. Jim has worked with and led numerous projects and committees in many diverse areas within the American Cancer Society, including Finance, Strategic Planning, Volunteer and Board Development, Compensation, Advocacy, Information Technology, Cancer Outcomes, and the Future of Cancer Care. Jim was recognized with the St. George Medal for his dedication and sustained service to the American Cancer Society, and in 2017 was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year.
