Manage entrepreneurship programs and activities within INL and connect researchers and innovators to regional angel investors and venture capitalists to accelerate the commercialization of INL technologies.Manage and conduct Energy I-Corps Lite training program for INL researchers. I-Corps is a six week training program where INL researchers with a research concept (intellectual property) develop a business value proposition for their idea and validate it through numerous customer interviews with industry experts and end-users (customer validation). The program also evaluates the practical business considerations involved when developing and commercializing a technology, using a “Business Model Canvas” approach. Researchers learn a framework for industry engagement to guide future research and inform a culture of market awareness within the lab.In addition to providing the above training, I am responsible for the following:• Building a valuable portfolio of deployable technologies that support lab-wide and mission strategies;• Working with regional and local entrepreneurs, investors, and industry partners to accomplish the broader mission of deploying INL-derived technologies, demonstrating economic impact;• Establishing strategic, long-term relationships with external customers, and with management and technical teams to promote access to INL facilities, capabilities, technologies and Intellectual Property (IP);• Defining and executing marketing and commercialization strategies for the strategic portfolio of technologies and IP;• Negotiating licensing of technologies with prospective partners and licensees; • Training management and technical staff on value creation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and business development.
