About Jim Horn
Colonel Jim Horn was selected as the Deputy Director of Operations in July 2025 for the ArmyTransformation and Training Command HQs in Austin TX. Transformation and Training Command is dedicated to transforming the Army to ensure future readiness through modernization, innovation, and technological advancement. COL Horn is responsible for synchronizing and integrating operations across the HQs directorates for Operations, Strategy, Strategic Comms, and Data Processes. This role involves operationalizing strategic guidance to achieve command priorities and facilitating efficient execution of those priorities across the command enterprise that spans the globe and encompasses over military and civilian employees. Jim is an Infantry Officer with over 24yrs of service having served over 44 months in Combat zones including Iraq, Afghanistan, and other areas of the Persian Gulf. He has trained armies across the Middle East, the Baltic States, and Ukraine; and served as Chief of Tactics for Army Cadet Command. COL Horn earned a Bachelor\'s Degree in Economics from West Point, a Master\'s Degree in International Strategy from the Naval War College, and a Master\'s Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville. Additionally, he serves on the Central Texas Public Safety Commission, and the National Security Research Advisory Council for the University of Alabama. He also manages a personal real estate portfolio, co-owns a rental management company with his wife, which she leads full-time, and is a partner in other restaurant and real estate ventures.COL Horn\'s Significant Awards and Decorations include 5 Bronze Star Medals, 3 Meritorious Service Medals, Master-rated Parachutist, Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman Badge, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. COL Jim Horn lives in Austin, TX with his wife and four children.
