I am currently managing the Streets Operations and Infrastructure Management Division of Public Works. This division maintains and operates all roadway and right of way infrastructure. We perform production paving services for the City, and maintain all storm systems and our stormwater NPDES permit. I also manage the Streets and Transportation fund. I have served as the Accessibility Coordinator for the City, and currently manage an Ad Hoc Committee of the Access Advisory Committee. I am a Certified Access Specialist. I have over twenty five years of experience in design and service of mechanical systems. As a contractor, I designed and installed laboratory HVAC and controls systems for the Department of Energy (EG & G), Orbital Sciences Corporation, Delco Electronics, TRW Corporation and many other large corporations and institutions. I have also enjoyed a successful 12-year career at UCSB. Some of my career highlights at UCSB: • Reduced campus electrical usage per square foot by 31% since • Reduced campus natural gas usage per square foot by 33% since • Saved more than $40 million in purchased utilities costs over a 10 year period • Won several awards for energy conservation and carbon reduction • Designed laboratory and HVAC control systems for the campus I frequently speak about energy conservation, controls and laboratory design at conferences, UCSB engineering classes, and other venues. I helped develop the first LEED™ Existing Building portfolio program at UCSB—25 buildings were incorporated. I also developed UCSB’s in-house commissioning program for new construction and existing buildings. At the City of Santa Barbara I have managed the Facilities and Energy programs. I oversaw the maintenance and renewal of buildings, custodial services, traffic signal and streetlight maintenance, phone and radio communications and environmental compliance. I also managed the City\'s energy conservation and renewable energy programs. I helped develop a cogeneration system powered by bio gas from the City\'s wastewater treatment plant installed and funded through a power purchase agreement.
