Having been sworn in to a four year term on July 1, 2015 I have taken on authority and duties as the Auditor for Beaufort County that are regulated by the S.C. Department of Revenue. A specific listing of those duties can be found in Title 12, Chapter 39 of the Code of Laws. The Auditor is instrumental in the collection of the property tax, the largest source of revenue for the county, by preparing and maintaining the tax rolls for all classes of taxable property. The primary responsibilities are to keep the county’s records of real and personal property and to calculate individual property taxes. The Auditor prepares annually the official tax book, which lists the owners of taxable property, the real and personal property they own and the equalized value of that property for taxation.
