About Jim Alvarez
I’m a 4th-year Computer Science student at CSUF minoring in Business Data Analytics, currently an incoming Software Engineering Intern at Ally.I focus on building scalable backend systems and APIs, with experience developing async microservices using FastAPI, Redis, and MongoDB. My work includes third-party API integrations, caching strategies, and observability to improve system reliability and throughput.Alongside engineering, I care deeply about career development and mentorship. As Professional Development Chair for my engineering fraternity, I led structured internship-prep programs that significantly increased application volume and helped multiple members secure summer internships.Outside of tech, I enjoy going to music festivals and concerts, trying new food spots with friends, and stepping away from the screen to get outdoors. I like breaking down complex problems and building thoughtful solutions, and I’m always open to connecting with people who enjoy both great software and great experiences.
