ABOUT JIM ALEXANDER

I am a native Houstonian and career banker. I retired in January 2015 after a 50 year banking career. After graduation from St. Thomas H.S. in 1964, I began my career that summer at Reagan State Bank in the Heights in the bookkeeping department. After completing Air Force Reserve active duty, I was a computer operator, computer programmer and then credit investigator at First City National Bank while continuing my education at the University of Houston Business school from which I graduated with a BBA in Finance. This was followed by a 20 year career at Allied Bank of Texas / First Interstate Bank as manager of Credit Operations. After a short stay at a local credit union as Executive Vice President, I have been with Southwest Bank of Texas / Amegy Bank to present. My roles at Southwest / Amegy began in the Credit Administration area, followed by a move to the Correspondent Banking Group, having been an original member of that start up department. I am now sharing my time as a business development officer for our Small Business Banking group in Northwest Houston and as a relationship manager in our Correspondent Banking Group. My professional organization activity has been with the National Association of Credit Management where I served on boards and various committees both locally and nationally. Likewise, I served on local and national boards and committees for the Robert Morris Associates, a national banking organization for credit and lending officers. I also participated as a member of TBA ( Texas Bankers Association ) and IBAT ( Independent Bankers Association of Texas ). Additionally, I serve on the advisory council for the Lone Star College Small Business Development Center. I also serve on various committees of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce as well as a involved in the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce and the Cypress Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce.
