Founded by Olympic and NCAA female athletes, ZGiRLS is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching middle school girls tangible skills to overcome self-doubt, fear, and insecurities, while increasing their confidence and self-esteem. ZGiRLS tackles the critical issue of low self-confidence and self-worth among girls—a problem that recent CDC data shows is escalating into a mental health crisis. In 2021, nearly 60% of teen girls reported persistent sadness or hopelessness, and almost 1 in 3 contemplated suicide. Concurrent studies reveal that 70% of girls believe they\'re not good enough. This lack of confidence holds back their willingness to take risks, pursue their goals, or voice their opinions in situations where their input is essential. These issues don\'t simply disappear with age—they perpetuate into adulthood, undermining girl’s potential and limiting their contributions to society. ZGiRLS addresses these challenges by nurturing confidence in young girls between the ages of 11-14— a formative period in their lives where intervention can prevent the long-term impacts of poor self-esteem. By establishing a strong foundation for lifelong mental wellness, our program aims to alter the disturbing trends we\'re witnessing and unlock the full potential of the next generation. The ZGiRLS Confidence Program is a transformative 4-week online program led by professional, Olympic, or collegiate female athletes who empower participants to believe in themselves through the ZGiRLS Curriculum™. Our program focuses on nurturing a growth mindset, building self-worth, teaching resilience through challenges and failure, and fostering effective communication skills.
