ABOUT JILLY CRANE-MAUZY

Jilly Crane-Mauzy is a motivated recent 2023 Whittier College graduate with a track record of academic excellence, with Magna Cum Laude honors. Jilly recently received the Outstanding Academic Achievement in Gender Studies Award at Whittier College’s Honors Convocation 2023. They also received an award for an outstanding senior project from the Whittier Scholars Program, through which they created a personalized major titled Political Theory, Activism, and Visual Media. Their senior project for which they received this award was on the political ideology of protest symbols which they also presented at the Pi Sigma Alpha National Student Research Conference. They are also the treasurer of their school\'s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, Gamma Tau, through which they wrote and received a grant for civic engagement and planned other campus events that focused on political engagement and knowledge. Jilly also received a Senior Keys Award in recognition of outstanding leadership to the campus community at Whittier College. Jilly is also the Chef d’Cabinet for the 72nd annual Modal United Nations of the Far West 2023 Conference. Jilly also is the political advisor for MoCrazyStrong, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness around traumatic brain injuries and teach methods to have a complete recovery, Jilly advises on advocacy programs and political strategy for the nonprofit’s work on raising awareness of traumatic brain injuries for persons surviving a traumatic brain injury, their family caregivers, and government support. Through being a genderqueer leader in their college community in their role as Resident Advisor of Gender Inclusive Housing, Jilly has experience organizing volunteers and creating events for the LGBTQ+ community specifically focused on trans inclusion, among others, looking for a position to guide, support, grow and develop volunteers and the community at large as both a visible figure of the community and through creating programs and initiatives to promote LGBTQ+ rights with a focus on intersectionality with other coalitions of sociopolitical movements. Jilly was also on the planning committee for Lavender Graduation and spoke on the history of Lavender Graduation at the event. A fun fact about Jilly is they were the officiate for their older sister\'s wedding in May of 2022, giving an eloquent and emotional oration.
