Build relationships and serve as Sims Metal Management’s key point of contact with local and state legislators. Maintain ongoing constructive two-way communication with elected officials at all levels within Sims Metal Management’s West Region. Monitor legislative activities relating to scrap metal processing, organizing responses when appropriate.Represent Sims Metal Management in a variety of government and political settings, including public hearings and forums, private meetings, and political fundraisers.Represent Sims Metal Management at industry events, industry briefings and association and coalition meetings.Serve on non-profit boards and industry association boards, representing Sims Metal Management.Plan and conduct tours of our facilities for community groups and public officials. Ensure that Sims Metal Management is effectively involved in critical associations and with relevant external groups, constituencies and coalitions. Perform crisis communications, keeping a close eye on potential reputation risk issues. Mange the West Region’s community outreach budget and the state and federal political contributions budget and recommend opportunities to make contributions.Make targeted and professional presentations to a variety of audiences.Research and analyze emerging issues of political or regulatory consequence to Sims Metal ManagementCreate and manage advertising for both commercial and community activities
