About Jill Wilder

One of the joys of running a successful company is to be imitated by the competition. It is one of the greatest compliments anyone can pay the Aptech team, she says—a result of being on the leading edge of hospitality software solutions and delivering results to clients. Known for a hands-on leadership style that has helped make Aptech an industry frontrunner, she takes pride in the 20-member team she has worked with during her 38 years with the company.Among their accomplishments was developing Aptech’s business intelligence tool. “That was in 1997,” she says. “We helped educate the industry on business intelligence and the difference it can make. Now it’s everywhere.” Like Aptech’s other successes, it was driven by Jill’s and the team’s domain expertise, technology understanding, and interpersonal skills. Jill is a wonderful communicator with warmth that conveys the value she places on the people in her life—including her four grown children, her friends and Aptech’s employees, and the firm’s clients, many of whom have long-term partnerships with the company. Jill learned her business philosophy from her father, who founded a successful CPA firm. “He treated the people who worked for him with the utmost respect,” she says. “He believed in them and it paid off.” Interestingly, it was Jill’s parents who talked her out of her early dreams of becoming a schoolteacher because they saw her leadership capabilities and her potential for business success. “They used to tease me that whenever I joined a group or organization, I was running it within an hour.
