Responsibilities include:• Leading the BBC’s Net Zero strategy and driving decarbonisation to meet SBTi validated targets.• Working with senior stakeholders across the BBC group to set divisional targets and embed sustainability within the business.• Carbon footprinting for the whole of the BBC group across the full range of scopes. As well as the main public service media arm, this also includes the BBC’s commercial subsidiaries and international sites. Additionally, leading on data improvements and re-baselining every year. • Modelling of our decarbonisation pathway to Net Zero and tracking progress against our targets• Sustainability reporting internally and externally, including to the Board and CDP, in collaboration with Finance colleagues• Leading the assurance process to have our sustainability data audited • Tracking latest developments in policy, regulation and technology. • Co-lead of BAFTA Albert taskforce on Standards, Reporting and Measurement. BAFTA Albert is the convener of a broadcasting industry group on sustainability, supported by all UK broadcasters• Representing the BBC at conferences and in industry groups such as DIMPACT, an industry collaboration looking at impacts of the media industry such as from AI, cloud and end-user devices.• Managing projects with a range of external partners and consultants and cross-functional internal teamsMajor outcomes:• 30% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions from FY19/20 base year against a 46% target by FY30/31• Led the BBC through SBTi Net Zero target validation process in 2024• Procured and implemented a carbon accounting platform to in-house all our carbon footprinting for Scopes 1-3, and share data with business leads to allow them to see the footprint of their individual teams / projects and enable data-driven insight and decision making• 2 years of sustainability data successfully assured by Deloitte in accordance with ISAE across all of Scopes 1-3
