About Jiazheng Liu
Jiazheng has 9-year experience in C/C++, in different labs and companies. His interest and experience is focusing on system, programming language and formalizations. Having designed several computation/IO dual-intensive software, he has good understanding in memory management and scheduling. Now he works as a software engineer in Oracle Exadata, focusing on designing next generation storage for any query engine.His interest in programming language makes him capable of understanding many languages. He can produce industry-level codes in C/C++, Cuda, Scala, Rust and Java, also comfortable with Haskell(love it), TLA+, Kotlin and Python(Not preferred though). Work on Exadata & ExascaleWe build more smart and efficient persistent storage for any type of workload!Area involved:Persistent memory: Design a new type of scheduler for IO landing on PMem.(Intel Optane, discontinued)RDMA: Remote direct memory access, empowering clients fetching data bypassing server’s CPU. It gets more powerful when RDMA combines faster network protocol. In Exadata, we use RoCE. Optimized several functionalities on the RDMA/ROCE library.Columnar Cache on Flash/Memory: this enables storage server better handling large read, suitable for data warehouse query.Smart Scan: predicate from read query being pushed down from query engine to storage server.
