ABOUT JIANING GAO
Enthusiasm in material science has been my major driving force in study and work, pursuing my PhD at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After my graduation, I started my career at GE’s world class characterization lab, learning and expanding my abilities to solve R&D material and processing problems for a wide range of industries including aviation, additive manufacturing, renewables, oil and gas and healthcare. There, I grew my expertise in thermal analysis, nanoindentation and team based problem solving. Currently I am challenging myself as the characterization manager at Veloxint, a start-up nanotechnology materials company. In this position I have streamlined and automated many characterization protocols and led my group’s effort to provide guidance and insights in alloy discovery that is critical to the company. As a group manager, I have focused on developing team skills, empowering my employees, and creating a task focused win-win lateral group collaboration.
