About Jiangping Gu
Jiangping (John) Gu was named the Division Engineering Director for PCC Structurals, Inc. in early 2020. He is a technical leader of investment castings with extensive process knowledge and management experiences. John joined the Materials and Technology Department (PCC\'s R&D group) in as a modeling engineer. He established the solidification modeling system for PCC Structurals and then advocated it and managed its growth to a simulation center, where multiple software packages such as ProCast, Moldflow, Autodesk Simulation CFD, and Autodesk Simulation Mechanical are applied to the investment casting processes. John started his management career in 2011 as the Simulation Center Manager. In 2013, he became the Engineering Manager of Large Parts Campus (LPC) Steel plant. With his outstanding performance, John was promoted in 2016 as the NPI Engineering Manager of LPC overseeing the development engineering for both Steel and Ti plants. In April, 2018, John was once again promoted to be the Director of Engineering for LPC. He was responsible for the development engineering, production engineering, process control and tooling/fixture and leading world-class engineering team dedicated to developing, improving and controlling the investment casting process of stainless steel, nickel based superalloys and titanium alloys. In his current role as the Division Engineering Director, John leads a Division engineering team and coordinates technical resources to support 10 casting plants in solving their top technical problems. He is also responsible for the engineering and technology strategy for PCC Structurals, Inc. John has a bachelor\'s degree in casting major (1990), a PhD in mechanical engineering (1995) from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and an MBA from Cornell University (2011).
