ABOUT JAY J. HOLLENBECK

I\'ve had the honor of learning and serving alongside the absolute best, top-tier folks in the aerospace industry over the past 16+ years! I\'m a girl dad of 3, married to the woman of my dreams and constantly try to improve upon on a solid work/life balance.work hard, play hard, where there\'s always room for improvement. I’m also a founding member of the North Alabama Boys non-profit serving areas affected by natural disasters. I played for one of the best NCAA baseball coaches in the country, where I received a BS in Physics, minor in Psychology, which absolutely kick-started my career originally as a commercial general contractor out of the great state of Mississippi. There I was a part of construction teams estimating, bidding and building hospitality, retail developments and office buildings for great companies like Marriott in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. I then capitalized on an awesome opportunity with NASA that arose early in my development, because I saw a way to serve my country while utilizing the strong project management and engineering skills learned from private industry to further American freedom and leadership in space. There are several key NASA mentors that took a long shot gamble on me. Through their mentorship, they invested heavily in furthering my development as a project manager, but then also imparted a significant number of other tools to my toolbox. That toolbox now includes complex technical management, servant leadership, culture, politics, risk management, communication, innovation, integration, logistics, business acumen, and a heavy emphasis on contracting. From the beginning, I have been entrusted with managing multi-million dollar projects since my job trailer, commercial GC days and now am responsible for a very successful $1 Billion dollar effort that supports the Artemis Moon 2 Mars missions for Space Launch System, the world\'s most powerful rocket! I get to work with America\'s top space and defense prime contractors, astronauts as well as their vendors all over this amazing country, accumulating to the incomparable adrenaline rush of launching a massive orange projectile with 8.8 million pounds of thrust to the moon and beyond! Over my NASA career I\'ve gotten to be a guest on several podcasts, shared exciting SLS and Artemis updates to large public crowds and even was featured on PBS with the Harlem Globetrotters! That\'s a long way from pouring concrete floors, being the dummy stick of a survey crew and installing construction site cameras on 120’-ft high interstate lights on a Genie lift.
