About Jhoan Useche
Air is all around us, but we often don’t notice it. Air is made up of essential gases that people, animals and plants need to live. Being part of the Air Separation industry made me become aware of how important air is not only to human race, but to the steelmaking process, chemicals, pharmaceutical, petroleum processing, and more industries. I have landed a job where innovation is key for development in new technology to the Air Separation industry while remaining competitive.I enjoy this role more so because it challenges me to think outside the box, and allows for hands-on experience operating equipment at cryogenic temperature. I have been amazed to witness how small changes can affect the overall performance of an Air Separation Unit.Previously, I operated various pilot plants composed of heterogeneous catalytic reactors to produce biofuels. In addition, I have worked in fast paced environments that have benefited my skills to adapt to different situations, perform well under pressure, and still be able to complete my tasks. Being part of the quality control team encouraged me to be always within the safe boundaries not only for the final product, but also during the mechanical or chemical process. Safety should be everyone\'s motivation to move a project forward.When I am not in the lab, I will be spending valuable time with my kids teaching them about practical life skills, encouraging passion and curiosity for STEM, and creating some unforgettable memories.
