WORK HISTORY
Software Architect @Okta
Currently leading the Developer Productivity team, focused on tooling, improving build times, IDE performance, developer environment consistency and anything else that causes developers to (involuntarily) waste time. Recently on the \"core\" team, focused on cross cutting concerns and infrastructure pieces such as Elasticsearch, configuration services, and shared libraries. I also led a small, single-purpose team that developed a novel way to quickly detect password spray attacks in progress as well as novel countermeasures to a detected attack that avoids locking out legitimate users. On the Extensibility Team, I worked on the initial implementation of Callbacks and Webhooks feature. This feature allows administrators to extend Okta to call out to third party services or their own services to inject custom behavior into normal Okta flows such as authentication or application provisioning. On the Lifecycle Automation Team, I designed and implemented the Automations feature that would allow administrators to schedule users to be notified or suspended automatically when certain dynamically configured conditions were met. My implementation covered the first conditions to check and the first possible actions to take, but was developed to enable other teams to easily add conditions and actions to extend the automation capability.
