About Jake Gockley
I have a diverse range of experience in computational genetics focusing on high-throughput sequencing analysis and end-to-end technology development utilizing my background in both bench science and computational biology. In my graduate school, I focused on Autism risk factor discovery and sex bias, as well as enhancer evolution in humans relative to non-human primates. This culminated in the development of a functional high-throughput enhancer screen capable of screening more than candidate sequences. In my work following graduation, I have led projects focused on benchmarking analysis methods of the new 10x Chromium WGS sequencing strategy and integration of this data with matched RNA-Seq and CyTOF datasets from Multiple Myeloma patients. These experiences have helped incorporate complex structural variant analysis into my skillset alongside of experiences with SNVs, INDELs, and CNVs. Additionally; I have assisted on clinical trial translational biomarker discovery research efforts in various cancers.My current interests lie in improving my proficiencies in machine learning specifically with TensorFlow/Keras for the purpose of integrating advanced machine learning models such as deconvolutional and recurrent neural network analysis into my work.Skills: Processing, QC analysis, and experimental analyses on: Microarray (SNP & Expression), ChIP-Seq, DNAse hypersensitivity, Exome Sequencing, RNA-Sequencing (Poly-A mRNA Purified & Total RNA Capture), Whole Genome Sequencing, and 10x Chromium WGS Sequencing.Coding Languages of Python, R, RShiny, RMarkdown, LaTeX, Perl.
