ABOUT JEWEL HURT
I recently graduated with my Masters in Education from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. As a student in the Education Entrepreneurship program, I spent the last year creating, testing, and developing plans to launch the first gig marketplace created specifically for teenagers. KROW, as in work spelled backwards, is on its way to becoming a safe and user-friendly platform where busy adults can outsource their chores to teenagers who want to earn their own money on their own time. I attended James Madison University as an undergraduate where I served two terms as Student Body President and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. My thesis consisted of research that assessed the civic engagement outcomes of fourth and fifth grade students in two MicroSociety charter schools. Following graduation, I moved to Nashua, New Hampshire where I spent 3 years working for MicroSociety Academy Charter School. My job responsibilities included fundraising, marketing, grant writing, parent relations, and community partner development. I pride myself in leadership, creativity, and fostering meaningful relationships. I look forward to connecting with you!
