ABOUT JOHN B. BURROUGHS

John Burroughs, Vice President of the Ohio Poetry Association, has also served as U.S. National Beat Poet Laureate (20••••23) and Ohio Beat Poet Laureate (20••••21). Burroughs is also a playwright and publisher who co-founded the Lix & Kix Poetry Extravaganza and Snoetry: A Winter Wordfest. Books he\'s authored include The Wrest of the Worthwhile [2023, Far Queue Press], Dogging Catastrophe [2022, The Grind Stone], You Can\'t Trust It to Remain [2022, Between Shadows Press], Rattle & Numb: Selected and New Poems, 19••••19 [2019, Venetian Spider Press]; Loss and Foundering [2018, NightBallet Press]; Water Works [2017, The Poet\'s Haven]; Beat Attitude [2015, NightBallet Press]; It Takes More Than Chance to Make Change [2013, The Poet\'s Haven]; The Eater of the Absurd [2012, NightBallet Press]; Water Works [2012, Recycled Karma Press]; Barry Merry Baloney [2012, Spare Change Press]; Electric Company [2011, Writing Knights Press]; and the collaborative works A Case for Ascension (with four other poets)[2015, Asinimali Publications], Oct Tongue -1 (with six other poets)[2014, Crisis Chronicles Press] and Identity Crises (with Bree and Douglas Manson)[2009, Green Panda Press]. His poems and photography have been published in a wide array of publications.From 1995 through 2001, John served as a full-time playwright and occasional music director in residence for the Ministry of Theatre at Marion Correctional Institution. In 2007, his blog was ranked number one in several categories on MySpace. After that, John created his own website, won his first poetry slam, formed PoetryElyria and Poets of Lorain County, served as webmaster for the Ohio Poetry Association, maintains the Northeast Ohio literary calendar and Cleveland Poetics blog at clevelandpoetry.com, and since 2008 has served as the founding editor of Crisis Chronicles Press. John has also organized hundreds of literary events and has performed his poetry and music at libraries, art galleries, cafes, bookstores, taverns, theaters and festivals across the US.
