ABOUT JESUS BRAVO
Born and raised in Orange County, CA, Jesus Bravo is a first generation Mexican-Indigenous-American who is currently working in their local community as a substitute teacher for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Jesus is the second member of his family to have attained a high school diploma (Costa Mesa High School), and has gone on to attain two bachelor degrees at the University of California, Riverside in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. The two bachelor degrees Jesus earned during their four years were in Psychology and Theatre, Film, & Digital Production (concentration in Acting & Directing). As can be seen from an early age, Jesus has always been extremely involved in their local community. During their time at Costa Mesa High School, Jesus was involved in multiple theatre productions, various school clubs/organizations, six different sports, the school’s Mandarin Chinese program, and was a Simon Scholar Recipient (now an alumnus of the Simon Scholarship Program). Immediately after graduating high school, Jesus attended the University of California, Riverside and graduated class of 2021. During those four years at UC Riverside, Jesus was heavily involved with on-campus clubs/organizations, volunteer-work, laboratory and on-campus work. From being a part of the university’s residential life and student life department to being an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the various clubs/organizations they were involved in; Jesus made sure to leave a positive impact with every aspect of the university they were involved in. After graduating from UC Riverside in 2021, Jesus took the majority of a year off from any career or educative endeavors in order to help their family. Near the end of the year, Jesus began working in their local school district as a substitute teacher, teaching all grade levels and specialties (foreign language, special education, music/performing arts, physical education, etc.). In their free time, Jesus is typically either working out at a gym, listening to another audio book, or trying to learn a new language (he is currently focused on refining his Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, all the while trying to learn Arabic). Above all, Jesus’ main goal in their life currently is to leave as positive of an impact in whatever field they currently are in. They want to be able to help others who, similar to him, come from a challenging background (whether economically or from life experiences) and help them accomplish their aspirations.\"Every champion was once a contender who refused to give up.\"- Rocky
