If you want to know more about the person behind the resume, well, here you go….My love of literature and the world of words inspired me to want to become the next Kurt Vonnegut. When that surprisingly didn’t happen, I took my education and skills and instead built a fantastic 20-year career in communications, marketing, and public relations.So it goes.Having started my professional career as an adjunct faculty member at a handful of colleges and universities, I am wired to continually learn new things and improve my skills (like eliminating that split infinitive you just saw) and use what I know to help improve the communication skills of others. Or just debate the recommendations of the Associated Press Stylebook with colleagues.Growing up, I was the type of kid who disassembled all his toys to find out how they worked, most of the time managing to reassemble them. I have since learned how to look at things and be inquisitive in a less destructive way. My goal as an adult, however, remains the same: to look at the way things are done, ask why they’re done that way, and make them better and more efficient whenever possible. I was life-hacking before life-hacking was cool!When I’m not working, I enjoy reading novels, working out, spending time with family, cooking Colombian food for my wife, quoting Seinfeld episodes, and fighting off existential anxiety by watching cartoons and horror movies. Oh yeah, I’m a hoot at parties.I also love dogs.And anything made of chocolate.There’s a lot more, but I’m sure I’ve already said too much. Let me just send you a copy of my résumé.
